Traders or service providers must grant consumers a right of withdrawal in the withdrawal instruction. If customers are not transparently informed about the possible withdrawal of a contract, or if conditions and deadlines are not legally compliant, consumers can withdraw from the contract. The formal requirements of withdrawal instructions were standardized EU-wide with the EU Consumer Rights Directive on 13 June 2014.
