The damages have now been professionally repaired, and the premises have been renovated and modernized. People are looking to the future with optimism and confidence again.

As a romantic and historic place with flair, and since 1974 officially recognized as a Kneipp health resort, the university and spa town has been known for many years for its medieval city center and the integrated City Outlet Center. It is the first inner-city outlet center in North Rhine-Westphalia, which opened its doors in August 2014 and attracts more than 25,000 visitors annually. This pilot project served as a model for many municipalities across Germany. It is expected that the first stores in the city center will reopen by the end of the second quarter of 2022.

With a total population of approximately 17,387 residents (as of December 31, 2020, according to the Bad Münstereifel city website), along with 150,000 overnight guests and around 2 million visitors annually before the flood, the town is more popular than ever.

Among the city's attractions is also the well-known Eifelbad indoor swimming pool, which is only about 2 km away. In the surrounding area, there are numerous hiking and cycling trails along with various leisure activities. The educational landscape is diverse: for local schooling needs, there are 12 daycare centers, three high schools (gymnasiums), as well as one secondary school (Realschule) and one general secondary school (Hauptschule) spread throughout the city. Many elementary schools are located in its 57 districts.

The connection to Cologne metropolis and Bonn city is excellent. Thanks to nearby highway connections via A1 and A61 and through B51 and L165 roads, you can reach Cologne by car in about an hour. Bonn, known for its university, can be reached in less than 40 minutes by car. Mobility via train and bus services is ensured by an expanding network of lines.

The regional train station can be reached on foot in just about 11 minutes (approximately 800 meters). Due to flooding affecting railway lines in 2021, train operations had to be temporarily suspended. It cannot currently be specified how long repairs will take.
